Applied Trajectory Optimization Certificate

Link to the program overview: Naval Postgraduate School's Applied Trajectory Optimization Certificate

The Applied Trajectory Optimization Certificate from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) was a series of classes I took while a GNC engineer at Blue Origin. To receive the certificate, I completed 4 total quarter long courses. Based on the availability scheduling of NPS' distance learning classes, I took the courses detailed on this page. Each course contained a final project which exercised what had been learned throughout the quarter. My final project reports are included in case anyone would like to take a look.

AE4850 - Dynamic Optimization

Dynamic Optimization - This course taught us the fundamentals of optimization along with methods of solving optimization problems (shooting vs. collocation). We also spent time gaining familiarity with an optimization tool that was to be used for the final 2wk project (called DIDO). As a challenge, I decided to solve the 2nd stage starship landing problem for my final project. See my paper linked here: Starship Landing Trajectory Problem

AE4881 - Aerospace Trajectory Planning & Guidance

Aerospace Trajectory Planning & Guidance - This course contained a quarter long project where we defined a problem that could be solved using an optimized planning and trajectory algorithm for an aerospace application. I chose to generate a set of Ascent and Entry/Descent/Landing trajectories for a theoretically designed UAV. See my project paper linked here: Entry/Descent/Landing of an Atmospheric Measuring VTOL UAV
